Winter Burrow Soundtrack
About this game
On the Winter Burrow Original Soundtrack, you’ll find Andreas Busk’s award-winning music, composed to underscore the forest’s atmosphere and the woodland creatures that inhabit it. The album blends warm and adventurous cues, capturing both the comfort and the tension of the mouse’s journey.
In Winter Burrow, the soundtrack grows from a dialogue between fragile home life and the wild outdoors. As composer and sound designer, I wanted the audio to reflect the character’s journey, not just sit in the background.
Key inspiration came from Nordic folk melodies — old songs like “Mørk er November” and “Drømte mig en drøm i nat” bring a voice that feels familiar and strange at the same time. I re-recorded and adapted these tunes using playful instruments like toys and music boxes alongside soft symphonic layers, creating soundscapes that shift between comfort and tension.
In safe moments — inside the burrow, crafting, resting, knitting — the music is soft and intimate. Outside, in snowy landscapes and strange terrain, it becomes sparse and open: pulses, shifted field recordings, and cinematic energy that relates to the vulnerability to the wild.
Beyond the instruments, I focused on how the music changes with the player: motifs return in new shapes, echoing the mouse’s journey. The score doesn’t just follow the player — it moves with the exploration, the hush of the burrow, and the wide, untamed outdoors.

Winter Burrow is a cozy woodland survival game about a mouse returning home to restore their childhood burrow. Explore, gather resources, craft, knit warm sweaters, bake pies and meet the locals.
