Twist-tac-toe
About this game
Your Finals Have Begun. Will You Ascend or Fall? At Twisted University, the ancient tic-tac-toe grid is a battleground of curses and counter-spells. Score three-in-a-row to manifest magical stairs and ascend to your professors, defeating them in tactical deck-building duels. Navigate the randomized ascent through the Twisted Tower and graduate, or flunk back into academic oblivion.
Features
- Arcane Deck-building: Collect and upgrade spells, components, and relics.
- Tactical Grid Play: Plan multiple moves ahead to out-position your opponents.
- Randomized Ascent: Every run through the Twisted Tower reshuffles floors and faculty.
- Immersive Experience: Hand-drawn 2D animations paired with an original score.
Solo Gameplay
- Rise to the challenge: Match spells to conjure magical stairs. Every successful match propels you higher; every mistake allows the Professor to dismantle your progress. It's a tug-of-war for solid ground.
- Master Your Spellbook: You don't just play pieces; you cast spells. Draw from your evolving deck of spells, components, and relics to buff your scores, multiply your scoring potential, sabotage the Professor, or manipulate the grid itself.
- The Twisted Tower: Your final exams span a randomized ascent through the Twisted Tower. Each level presents a new examination room with procedurally generated professors, custom game rules, and grid variants. Will you choose a safe path and forego extra credit, or risk a brutal examination for a rare spell reward?
- Collect Relics and Components: Scavenge the university for Relics — powerful talismans that provide passive boons — and rare volatile Spell Components to spice up your deck. Choose wisely; the wrong synergy could result in a failing grade and a long drop back to the bottom of the Tower.
- The Final Thesis: Confront the mystery at the top of the tower and graduate — or become a footnote in the Archives.
Forbidden Geometries
Not all examinations use the familiar 3×3 grid. Professors at the Twisted University specialize in archaic variants that demand new stair-building strategies:
- Merellus: The ancient game of nine-men-morris, played on intersecting lines rather than squares.
- Inversion Hexes: Boards where victory conditions are mutated.
- Grid Recursion: Nine tactical games of tic-tac-toe embedded in a larger strategic game.
Peer Review (multiplayer)
- Academic Duels: Challenge fellow students to turn-based online matches.
- Study Hall: Local pass-and-play or Steam Remote Play Together sessions. Perfect for study groups and friendly rivalries.
