Morbus: The Burden Of The Apothecary
About this game
A 2D Top-Down Plague Simulation
"If you hesitate, the wrong people might die. If you rush, the wrong people might live." - Sir Hanush
Explore a dying town in a 2D top-down world on a tapestry during the times of the Black Death.
Treat townsfolk from several maladies and plagues. Talk to them and get to know their worries and fears. Accept quests and learn what is really happening beneath sermons, rumors and fear.
Keep in mind: Time moves forward. Days pass quickly.

Fight the Plague(s)
"Bloodletting is a precise and top of the line procedure, able to cure almost all maladies." - Gustaf v. Zwickau
Treat patients using gruesome methods like Bloodletting, Cupping, Leeches and other very questionable methods.
Reduce infection spread using skills and tools like burning corpses, hunt rats, crash parties and gatherings. And of course blow up bridges.
The town will surely thank you for it. Probably. Grow into your role as last apothecary!

Play the sides
"Everyone hated that." - Anonymous witness from a bloodletting procedure
The town is divided. Treating folks becomes political. Supporting one faction might close doors with another - or worse - bring attention of the Inquisition to you! The complex reputation system will reflect most of your actions and decisions.
Factions:
Penitents: The leading clerical faction in the town. They believe suffering is the only path to God.
Communals: The common folk. Crafters, traders, peasants and those who keep the town running and afloat.
The Caravan: A once wealthy caravan that lost its way from the Silk Road and now trying to outrun death.

Grow into a famous healer
"You are not an apothecary. Yet." - Hildegard, Midwife
Learn new treatment methods. Unlock tools and skills through quests and exploration:
Better equipment for containing disease
Tools for corpse disposal
Upgrades that improve survival chances
Grow into your role - or pretend convincingly enough.
Explore Multiple Endings
Your actions and fate can lead to disaster or relief.
Some have to fall - but you can save the town.
Depending on what faction you support and how you perform you will run into several endings. Ranging from a city collapse to your town-wide celebration. Or your execution.
Designed for replayability. Different alliances and priorities lead to different outcomes.
Art Style
A unique and special style based on the breathtaking Apocalypse Tapestry (Tenture de l'Apocalypse). Woven stillness from the style of this medieval "comic" is brought to life and transformed into a historically very non-accurate adventure.
