Loafstead

About this game

Cats that walk, sit, and loaf on your actual open desktop windows. Browser, code editor, spreadsheet.

Move one and they fall off.

You can pick up cats and throw them around. Not recommended IRL.

Leave food out and wild visitors show up. Leave different food out and different visitors show up.

Put out premium food and you might see a Bengal. Wait long enough and you stop getting cats. The journal entry just says "It was not a cat."

Wild cats show up uninvited, return on their own schedule, and slowly decide if you're acceptable. Then, and only then, you can ask to adopt them.

There's a collection journal, a hunger system, toys to bat around, and coins that pile up while you work. Spend them on food, toys, and increasingly bad decisions.

Cats occasionally leave gifts. Sometimes other things.

You can pet them. They will tolerate this.

  • Multiple breeds, each with their own personality, favourite food, and secrets
  • Cat sounds. Off by default, so your meetings are safe
  • Collars, hats, colour variants, and desktop props
  • Seasonal events

It's already on your screen. You just haven't put the bowl out yet.
Loafstead

Your desktop has a cat problem. Your browser, your spreadsheet, your inbox. It has no idea those are apps. It just sees surfaces to ignore you from. Leave it running and see who shows up when you come back.
