Depono
About this game
Depono is a competitive PvP strategy card game built around deckbuilding, betting, bluffing, and calculated risk. Each match challenges players to build a stronger deck, manage a limited supply of chips, and outthink their opponents across a series of high-stakes rounds.
Players begin a match with a set chip buy-in divided across three lives. Losing enough chips costs a life, and losing all three eliminates you from the match. The goal is simple: survive longer than every other player, become the last player standing, and claim the pot.
Every round begins with a randomly selected trump suit. Cards belonging to that suit outrank cards from every other suit, meaning even a normally weaker card can defeat a higher-value card under the right conditions. Players must adapt their strategies each round instead of relying on the same hand or deck combination.
During the betting phase, players can check, raise, or fold based on their cards, available chips, and their predictions about their opponents. Bluffing can pressure an opponent into folding, but an aggressive raise can also put your own limited resources at risk.
Between battles, players use their chips to purchase new cards and powerful ability cards. These abilities can be played during later rounds to change the flow of the match, disrupt an opponent’s strategy, or create an unexpected advantage. Players can also use limited discards to improve their available options and shape their deck as the match continues.
For each battle, players secretly choose three cards from their available hand. The selected cards are then revealed and resolved against the opponent’s choices. Victory depends on card value, the active trump suit, purchased abilities, betting decisions, and how well each player reads the other.
