DARKHAND

About this game

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FULL GAME IS FAR FROM RELEASE. FINAL CONTENT MAY DIFFER SLIGHTLY.

DARKHAND is a story-driven card-battle RPG set inside a towering, physics-defying casino ruled by The Devil.

Avoid debt, form alliances, and get to the 100th floor, earning a chance to fight the one keeping you here.

Will fate be on your side?

  • Narrative-focused: Talk, bargain, lie, and compromise with gamblers, dealers, and broken people you're trapped with. Themes include addiction, crime, mental health struggles, fate, and loss, mostly delivered through dark humour.

  • Card-based combat system: Build turns using Spades (attack), Hearts (heal), Clubs (defend), and Diamonds (chips). Limited action slots force hard choices every round. This all gets a bit complicated later on, though, as the system expands throughout the game.

  • Consequences and relationships: Your decisions affect characters’ fates, unlock hidden scenes, and lead to multiple endings, including three major ones.

  • Gambling minigames: Plinko, Blackjack, Slots.... as well as retro 1980s-style arcade games between story segments. Completely optional, but you'll get in-game currency if you play them.

  • Original soundtrack: 100+ tracks spanning synthwave, chiptune, rock, and orchestral styles. There's also jazz. And weird electronic music. I'm not very good with genres, but I'm pretty good with making music.

  • Stylized retro visuals: 16-bit-inspired pixel art mixed with dreamlike visual effects... but you can also toggle them off. I know some of you are tired of CRT filters and bloom and the likes.

  • Strange characters: Humans, aliens, animals, plants, demons, vampires, robots, skeletons, zombies, zombie plants, zombie skeletons... We've really got everything in there. (And if we haven't, please contact us.)
