Child of Ash

About this game

Was the Ash King truly evil?

The Ashblight — a calamity that turns everything it touches to ash and creeps from city to city. Three hundred years ago, one lone mage stopped it. He burned entire cities to hold it back. Many were saved. Many were not.

The royal family feared his power, and had him executed.
Then they rewrote history: a demon, defeated.

Burn it away. But everything has a price.

There is no combat. Only magic, offered as a choice — Ashen Flame.
An assassin closing in, a monster blocking your path, a problem with no easy answer — burn it, and it's gone. Almost too easily.

But every use takes something from you.

You move forward, not knowing. You choose again, once you know.

An orphan boy, raised in a forest chapel, doesn't know what sleeps inside him.
In the first loop, he leans on that power, chasing answers he hasn't yet found.

But the knowledge you've gathered as a player carries forward into the next loop.

How you play

Rumors overheard in a tavern, fragments of old records in a library, a line someone let slip without meaning to — piece them together to fill your Codex. Some entries are blanks you fill in yourself, reasoning from what you've gathered. The same places, seen with different knowledge, tell a different story.

Playtime

~6–8 hours

Main Objective

Fill the Codex and reach the true ending.

Child of Ash

The hero who stopped a world-eating calamity was branded a demon by history. Centuries later, an orphan carrying his last fragment pieces the truth together from rumor and record. No combat — only Ashen Flame, a power that costs you with every use. Two loops. One truth.
